The Tibetan Healing and Wellness Center (THWC) is the manifestation of Dr. Jampa Yonten’s long cherished dream to establish a comprehensive holistic healing and spiritual center. Dr. Yonten- an alumnus of Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute, Darjeeling-opened THWC in 2003 with blessings from his teacher, Dr. Trogawa Rinpoche. After considering many cities in India in which to open THWC, Dr. Yonten chose Bangalore for the many positive attributes the city offers.

THWC could not begin in large scale as first envisioned by Dr. Yonten. The center opened with a simple consulting office and pharmacy. Since its humble beginnings, however, THWC has grown: it now serves and touches the lives of many people throughout the world by providing a wide range of holistic treatments that include counseling, pharmacy, traditional Tibetan massage (Kunye), cupping, hydrotherapy/Medicinal Baths, and golden needle therapy.

THWC feels the blessings of patients, students, friends and well-wishers. This support has provided continued motivation and inspiration to offer more services to all sentient beings.

Dr. Jampa Yonten studied for five years traditional Tibetan Medicine (TTM) at Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute in Darjeeling, India. He also studied traditional Tibetan Medicine at Men-Tsee-Khang (Tibetan Medical & Astrology Institute) in Dharamshala, India) with Dr. Lobsang Chophel.

Dr. Yonten received the rGyud-bZhi transmission (Fundamental Traditional Tibetan Medicine Text Book) from Dr. Tenzin Chodark (Senior Personal Physician to His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama). Dr. Yonten did a two-year intensive internship with his guru, Dr. Trogawa Rinpoche and Men-Tsee-Khang amchis including Dr. Pema Dorjee, Dr. Thupten Gyatso (Tholing Rinpoche), Dr. Yeshi Dorjee and Dr. Kyizom (Mundgod).

Dr. Yonten has received the Medicine Buddha and Yuthog Nyingthig transmission and initiation from his guru, Dr. Trogawa Rinpoche. He was also fortunate to receive the Medicine Buddha initiation from His Eminent Khamtrul Rinpoche and the Yuthog Nyingthig transmission and initiation from His Holiness Taglung Tsettul Rinpoche.

Dr. Yonten is very fortunate to have received the Medicine Buddha and Hayagriva Initiations from His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama.

Dr. Yonten was awarded a Gold Medal from the Indian Board of Alternative Medicine, Kolkata.

In the year 2003, Dr. Yonten established Tibetan Healing and Wellness Center in Bangalore, India with blessings from his teacher, Dr. Trogawa Rinpoche. He offers consultations, teachings and healing retreats in India and many parts of the world- including the USA (mainland and Hawaii), Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Croatia
